Worldschool Hubbing in Seville
When planning our adventures in Spain, the experience we booked first was a week-long worldschooling hub in Seville. After trying a hub in Japan, we were excited to do it again. Hosted by a local couple, we and a dozen families toured the local sights, sampled the best churros and gelatos, and just hung out while the kids played in the park. After travelling for months mostly on our own, it was a much needed jolt of sociality.

Visiting the Moorish Grandeur of Alhambra
The Alhambra is a sprawling royal complex built by the Nasrid dynasty -- the last Islamic kingdom in Spain -- in Granada. The palace is remarkable for its incredibly elaborate filigree decorating all possible surfaces, as well as the gorgeous courtyards and landscaping. If you are headed to see it, we have some tips on how to make the most of your visit.

Getting to Know Kuala Lumpur
With only 2 weeks left in Thailand, we were still undecided on our next step - Vietnam? Penang Island? Kuala Lumpur? Ultimately, we decided on Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia — it’s easy to fly to, on the way to Singapore, well known to be a good spot for expats, and as probably the most modernized city in Southeast Asia, a change of scenery from our small town living in Thailand.

Conviviendo in Turkey
We have been sooooo looking forward to Istanbul, where Sara and Giovanni (our inspiration for this year of travel) and their girls decided to join us for some “Conviviendo” magic. And, finally, at the end October — they arrived!

Putting our feet up in P(h)uket
Having already spent more than a month in Thailand, Phuket would be our last stay before leaving the country. Though notorious for its seedier beaches and popularity with Russians, we really enjoyed our stay. Oh, did I mention $3 rum coconuts?

Chiang Mai: It’s Temples all the Way Down
Thailand is replete with Buddhist temples, one more colorful than the next. Here are the top must-see 51 in Chiang Mai area. Just kidding. Or am I?
Tick Tock Tokyo
We spent a week in Tokyo, imbibing its energy. Here are the highlights, from private karaoke and sushi sculpting to the roiling crowds of Shibuya and teamLabs massive art installations.

Shrines and Red Maples: A Five Day Kyoto Itinerary
Kyoto is unique and culturally different from other sizable cities in Japan. As a former capital, it is full of historical neighborhoods, beautiful temples and boasts a historical imperial palace. What should you do in Kyoto? Read on for a rewarding itinerary that hits on the coolest experiences and sites.

Beach Town in Wind-Down: Two Weeks in Sarandë
Mike had wanted to see what it’s like to live in a beach town, and he certainly got his wish with Sarandë. But as the last of the tourists left town and restaurant after restaurant closed, we started thinking, what are we doing here? That is, until we met the local and expat community, discovered turquoise beaches, got seriously into jiu-jitsu, jet skied in the sea — and generally created our own vibe.

Barreling through the Birthplace of the Renaissance
Florence was our first stop on a whirlwind tour of central Italy where we abandoned any pretense of “slow travel” and went into hyper-tourist mode.
Check out our romp through this beautiful city, the beneficiary of the most generous gift in history.

Touring Tyrol, Austria
To escape (yet another) imminent heat wave, we changed our plans at the last moment and, instead of north Italy, took a train to Innsbruck, Austria, a true Alpine city in the Tyrol region.
